Teddy bears picnic

I joined Search and Rescue, a branch of the Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department back in May. Thankfully, i have not had to respond to any calls as of yet. And the summer months keep most of the other volunteers busy, so we haven't done any training yet. But i did get to participate in this year's annual picnic. It was held at Sandy Beach Park because there is some massive construction going on out at the scow bay fire hall. I had purchased WAY too many eggs for the 4th of july egg toss, and had 6 dozen leftover. I decided to make a lot of deviled eggs with them, and then planned on using the rest for an egg toss.

Tug-o-war, a pinata, 3-legged race, water balloon fight, never-ending supply of beer, it was a fantastic afternoon. Because the water balloon fight got people really riled up, it was decided that an egg toss was out of the question, so zieak and ira proceeded to throw them all out into the water. Little did they know that all the eggs did NOT explode upon impact with the ocean, and a group of children started collecting them and throwing them back. One of the weller girls got zieak so bad on the back he had to go home and change. There were also a LOT of horseshoes played. Four pits were put in, allowing for two games to go on at once. I am actually pretty good considering i rarely play. It got dark too soon in my opinion, just when i was really gettin my game on.

We tried to make the bar scene after a whole afternoon of drinking, but did not last long at all. Home by 11. It was a good day.
