The VHS tape died at 30, not me though!

Yesterday i dug into my fourth decade of life. Woke up to a massive cat jumping onto my chest area (not fun.) Grabbed a box of cereal from the cupboard and smashed a spider on the side of it with my kung-fu grip (not fun.) Got to work and was bombarded with (not fun) things. Dont you fret though, things were about to look up...

My boyfriend magically showed up bearing drinks and snacks! He then later took me to lunch where i ate breaded chicken body parts dipped in honey-mustard and french fries! I was presented with my first gift of the day, this little treat. Afternoon continued just as wonderfully, with the flowershop girl visiting me TWO times, once with a bouquet of daisies and five balloons, and once with a poinsettia (which i chose to leave in my office as they are poisonous to curious kittens.)

Once home, i opened the gift from my momma, which was two beautiful turtleneck sweaters (it was fricking freezing the day she asked what i'd like) and another gift from zieak.... It was a book that i recognized from one of our thrift store romps, but upon opening it, found two little jewelery box-sized holes cut out of the pages. In those spots were a blue topaz and white gold necklace and ring. Awwwwwww! Oh, and that morning he alerted me that i would be receiving a new Treo 680, which had only barely been shipped. In the time we have been together, i have never ever received a card from him, holidays, birthdays, never. Today there was one on the counter (with squirrels on the front, heehee!) and it acted as a certificate for a bicycle of my choice!

Dinner was eaten quickly, as zieak had to attend an important city council meeting. We dined on alouette, gouda, bread and pistachios as i sipped on a sweet mead we stumbled upon at the bottle shop. 7 came way too quickly, and i quietly dropped him off to go be all professional and business-y while i went to revel on a monday night. Harbor bar was my place of choice to meet with (what i thought was) a couple of friends. Lo and behold - Orin, Megan, Ryan & Sara, Angie & Frank, Emilie, and Bob & Kelley all made an appearance! (missed you Ailis!) Frank even made me a cake! (a hot dog on a bun with 30 candles which caused a garbage can to catch on fire...) Bob & Kelley astounded me again with their perfect classy taste, and i went home with a new cheese plate and candle holder from them. Angie took the practical route and gave me a watertight box that fits my phone perfectly, and an led light that i can now replace for what i currently use as a flashlight (my phone.)

So my thirtieth birthday may have started out a little rougher than i'd have liked, but it sure winded down much better than i could have ever hoped for.
